National Designated Maritime Area Plan (DMAP) – Greystones offshore windfarm update
31 March 2026
Updates on our projects as National DMAP is developed
The Department for Climate, Energy and the Environment is expected to publish the results of the National DMAP over the coming months, with the European energy sector waiting expectedly.
The National DMAP for Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) will provide a strategic spatial planning policy framework for Ireland’s offshore renewables sector, which will assist in the delivery of the State’s overriding energy security and decarbonisation policies and objectives.
Flotation Energy has had an in-country team actively progressing sites in Ireland with key stakeholders since 2019 and continues to be committed to project areas on the east coast and south coast.
We support the plan led approach in Ireland and await the forthcoming detail on spatial designations in the National DMAP. Whilst we await further information to be released by Dublin, our Greystones project is on hold.
For the latest information on how Ireland’s DMAP aims to deliver 20GW of offshore renewable energy (including offshore wind) by 2040, visit the Government of Ireland’s website:

News and milestones on the work we are doing in both our east coast and south coast project areas will be updated here on our new Blackwater project website.
