We are dedicated to delivering our experience and technical expertise to develop floating offshore wind capacity in Irish waters.
A scalable floating wind pathfinder and deep water wind projects will stimulate regional economies across the country bringing inward investment, well paid jobs and opportunities for communities.
Vanguard leaders in
floating offshore wind
Headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland – Flotation Energy is a global offshore wind developer, specialising in pioneering floating projects in deeper waters.
With a proven track record of identifying, developing and consenting offshore sites for floating wind, we move projects from early-stage opportunity to construction and operations. Part of the TEPCO group, we are uniquely positioned to lead the delivery of floating offshore wind and deep water wind in the years ahead, with our project portfolio spanning selected international markets.
Where: 80 km off the East coast of Scotland
Power: Up to 560 MW
On track to become the largest, commercial-scale floating offshore windfarm in the world
Under Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas (INTOG) leasing round of 2023, Flotation Energy and co-developer Vårgrønn, won rights to develop 1,900MW of floating wind in the mid North Sea.
In 2024, Green Volt secured full consent and CfD from UK Government, meaning the project is on track to become the world’s largest commercial scale floating windfarm.
Set to deploy up to 35 floating wind turbines to deliver 560MW of nominal capacity, Green Volt is acting as a catalyst for a highly specialised floating wind supply chain.
Where: 52 km off the North coast of Devon (England)
Power: Up to 100 MW
Set to power over 135,000 households
Having received planning consents in 2025, White Cross is a Test & Demonstration floating wind project off the coast of North Devon.
The White Cross project is a key enabler to the wider, strategically important Celtic Sea region, developing floating wind capacity and supply chain capabilities.
The White Cross floating offshore windfarm is being co-developed with our joint venture partner Cobra group.
Where: 190 km off the East coast of Scotland
Power: Up to 1,350 MW
With up to 95 wind turbine generators, Cenos will truly industrialise floating wind in the UK North Sea.
Developed under Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targetted Oil & Gas (INTOG) leasing round of 2023, Cenos will build on the scaling of floating offshore wind delivered by Green Volt.
Also developed in partnership with Vårgrønn, Cenos will play a key role in the North Sea Transition Deal – electrifying participating existing oil and gas platforms in the North Sea and providing renewable power to the UK grid.
Set over 333km² in water depths exceeding 90metres, Cenos will further scale a specialised floating wind supply chain in the UK and beyond.
The largest grid-connected floating offshore windfarm currently in the world”
Kincardine
Experience
and expertise
Completed in 2022 and still the largest grid-connected floating offshore windfarm in the world. Kincardine floating offshore windfarm was pioneered and developed by the founders of Flotation Energy and Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, S.A.
Working in partnership with the Kincardine project team, Flotation Energy continues to leverage the experience and expertise of this ground-breaking project to drive the successful development of new, commercial scale floating wind projects around the world.
